Timbaland’s music marketplace Beatclub to join IBM startup Incubator Program

Timbaland and Gary Marella-founded beat marketplace Beatclub has been invited into the fourth cohort of the IBM Hyper Protect Accelerator, a mentorship program for startups offering data protection, privacy, and security solutions.

The IBM Hyper Protect Accelerator has already supported 45 early-stage startups across the world, and announced its growth to 100 startups on September 15, 2021.

The program is run in collaboration with Village Capital, which since 2009, has supported over 1,000 early-stage entrepreneurs through its programs. The firm’s affiliated fund, VilCap Investments, has invested in more than 100 program graduates.

While other startups in the IBM program have focused on finance, digital assets, healthcare or insurance, Beatclub is the first company in the program to cross over into arts and culture.

Beatclub, set to launch later this year, enables artists to create music from beats crafted by Timbaland and other producers like Mike WiLL Made-It, Cash Money AP, Mike Dean, Tainy, J. Cole, Federico Vindver, Larrance Dopson, Tommy Brown and more.

As a music marketplace, Beatclub allows creators to keep 100% of their master and publishing rights, 100% of their revenue, and gives them the ability to customize licenses.

Beatclub recently announced a partnership with Horizon Fintex, a fintech company that powers digital stock exchange, Upstream, and fan engagement platform, Global Fan Exchange (GFX), giving users the ability to own and trade music shares and NFTs from producers and songwriters.

“At Beatclub we leverage the hyperledger fabric and smart contracts to underpin all of our business processes and transactions across our marketplace.”

Eric Czar, beatclub

Eric Czar, Chief Technology Officer at Beatclub, said: “At Beatclub we leverage the hyperledger fabric and smart contracts to underpin all of our business processes and transactions across our marketplace.

“Our participation in IBM Hyper Protect Accelerator will enable us to continue our development work as we automate the self-executing license terms for our music products and enable all of our transactions to be fully transparent and trackable, all while protecting sensitive client data.”

“We are so honored to be the first music company to be invited into IBM’s accelerator program.”

Gary Marella, beatclub

“we see tremendous opportunity in enabling up-and-coming artists to earn an income.”

Melissa Sassi, IBM Z

Melissa Sassi, Chief Penguin, IBM Z, added: “Our entire IBM Hyper Protect Accelerator team is incredibly excited to welcome Beatclub to our family of 100 startups and look forward to celebrating the music creator culture and community.

“With a new generation of creators often making music and beats in their bedrooms across far corners of the earth, we see tremendous opportunity in enabling up-and-coming artists to earn an income, all while protecting their intellectual property.”Music Business Worldwide
