Delaware Cancels Racing Aug. 11 Due to Extreme Heat

Acting upon the advice of the chief state veterinarian for Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission, Delaware Park has canceled racing for Aug. 11 due to an excessive heat warning in the area. Wednesday’s cancellation results in the Cape Henlopen Stakes moving to Aug. 16.

The status of live racing on Aug. 12 will be determined on Wednesday, the track indicated.

The National Weather Service has forecast temperatures in the high 90s with a heat index of value approaching the mid-100s for both Wednesday and Thursday.
