The Nikon Z FC Mirrorless Camera Is Here With A Retro Design

6 processorA couple of weeks ago, it was rumored that Nikon could have a new mirrorless camera in the works. While we wouldn’t be surprised at seeing a new Z-series camera from the company, the rumors suggested that for this particular camera, Nikon might actually be utilizing a retro design, a throwback to the company’s earlier camera designs.

Sure enough the rumors have since proven to be true as Nikon has taken the wraps off their latest mirrorless camera, the Nikon Z FC. Unlike the previous Z-series mirrorless cameras, the Z FC sports a very retro design inspired by the Nikon FM2 SLR, so if this is something that you can appreciate, then maybe this could be the camera for you.

It comes with various controls set on the external body of the camera, meaning that to adjust things like ISO exposure, and shutter speed, you only need to turn the dials instead of diving into the menu. The camera also comes with a fully-articulating OLED display and supports USB-C for charging and transferring of data.

It also packs a 20.9MP CMOS sensor and is powered by the Expeed 6 processor. It can shoot at 11 fps, shoot oversampled 4K video, and it uses an EN-EL25 battery that is good for about 300 shots. The Nikon Z FC is priced at $960 for the body-only, but will go for $1,100 with the DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR kit lens, or $1,200 with the 28mm F.2.8 (SE) lens.
