Both Olivia Rodrigo and Blackpink’s Rosé attended their first-ever Met Gala last month, and the two ended up spending a big portion of the evening together. Teen Vogue‘s senior entertainment editor, P. Claire Dodson, who wrote the magazine’s new cover story on Rodrigo, shared part of their transcript that didn’t make it into the story where Rodrigo detailed her Met Gala experience with Rosé. They were seated next to each other and were friends before the night, actually.
Rodrigo had nothing but kind words to say about the K-pop superstar. “She’s the best,” Rodrigo said. “We’d hung out before, and she’s actually the sweetest angel alive. I was so happy I was sitting next to hear because I was so nervous and when I sat down it was like, ‘Oh my god I have a friend here.’ She’s absolutely the best, couldn’t sing her praises enough. She’s so talented. Nicest person in the world too.”

Rodrigo reflected honestly in her Teen Vogue interview about how she is treated in the industry as a child star coming of age now at 18 and how she has grappled being in a business that has little tolerance for mistakes: “That’s something I’ve always felt confused over [while] growing up,” she said. “When you’re in the industry, you’re sort of treated like a child but expected to act like an adult. That’s a really terrifying thought, to think that I’m not allowed to make any mistakes, because I think that’s how you grow as a person. I’m no different from any other 18-year-old out there. I’m definitely going to make a lot of mistakes in my life and in my career probably too. That’s just life.”
