If there’s one meal we have been craving above all else lately it’s warm and hearty soup recipes. We could honestly have soup every night of the week—okay, maybe every other night—it’s that good. So, of course, we’ve been on a mission to find the best chili recipes. It’s like a soup and a meal all rolled into one. Not only is it delicious but it’s also nutritionally-packed with veggies, protein, and spice to fire up your body from within and keep you cozy until Spring.
It also helps you stick to your health goals without sacrificing comfort or flavor. I’ve collected a few of my favorite chili recipes that you’ll love to have simmering away in your kitchen. One tip I’ve learned from Camille is to make extra to store in the freezer for those days when you don’t have time to cook dinner. You’ll thank yourself later!

Vegetarian Sweet Potato + Black Bean Chili, Camille Styles
Just the photo of this chili has my mouth watering… While I used to think that no chili was complete without some sort of meat, this recipe has officially changed my mind. Full of all of my favorite veggies, I like to make a big batch of this for dinner early in the week and eat the leftovers for lunch as long as the supplies last. Finally, no chili is complete without toppings and this recipe has the best list of toppings I have ever seen. I never thought to put goat cheese on chili, but now I’ll never go without it.
Slow-Cooker Chicken + White Bean Chili, Camille Styles
There is truly nothing better than adding ingredients to a slow-cooker in the morning, going about your day, and then coming home to incredible smells that fill the whole house. This Chicken and White Bean Chili is my favorite kind of slow-cooker recipe—all you have to do is chop up an onion, open some cans, and voilà, 8 hours later dinner is served (and fewer dishes to clean!). This recipe is the ultimate hack for making a delicious meal with minimal effort, sure to impress anyone who tastes it.
This Goop recipe is detox-friendly but none-the-less delicious! It is stacked with seasonings and spices, which makes you forget that it skips out on the peppers and tomatoes. I personally am not a fan of kidney beans and think that having both the black and pinto beans is already enough, so feel free to make it your own.
Crockpot Veggie Chili, Goop
Another super easy crockpot recipe, this veggie chili is perfect for big families and leftovers: it serves 12! It is so easy to prepare and the sweet potato adds both amazing flavor and heartiness. If you are like me and trying to eat vegetarian meals at least one night a week, this is a perfect addition to your meal plan.
Smoky Squash Chili with Quinoa, Pinto, & Black Beans, The First Mess
This protein-packed chili is one of the most surprising recipes I have tried. I would have never expected to see quinoa and cocoa powder on an ingredient list for chili, but I can assure you that all of my fears subsided with the first bite. The quinoa makes it heartier, the cocoa adds depth, and the addition of adobo sauce is nothing short of genius.
Spicy White Bean Chili with Shredded Chicken, Spoon Fork Bacon
I love a good white chili because it is so filling without being super heavy. I love the charred corn and radishes on top, as well, because it adds even more nutrients to this already healthy dish. This recipe also includes links to great bread to dip in the broth at the end, which is arguably my favorite part.
White Bean and Pumpkin Pork Chili, Foodie Crush
Pumpkin and kale are some of the most trendy ingredients in the food world, so why not add them to chili? Perfect for leftover pumpkins from the fall, this chili recipe is ready in just an hour and has shredded pork, white beans, chiles, and more. You can also substitute the pumpkin for butternut squash if pumpkin isn’t in season!
Healthy Slow Cooker Turkey and White Bean Chili, Half Baked Harvest
This healthy turkey chili can be prepared in either an Instant Pot or a slow cooker, depending on how much time you have, and features another surprising ingredient: apple butter. Don’t knock it ‘till you try it, because it perfectly balances out the spiciness with just the right amount of sweetness.

Chili and tamales? Now you’re speaking my language. Not only does the name of this recipe combine two of my favorite things, but the flavor is better than both combined. Serve with guacamole and tortillas and your next Mexican-inspired dinner will be a hit.

This recipe is one of the easiest chili recipes that I have come across (and not just because ‘easy’ is in the title). It is ready in under 30 minutes and is completely customizable- you can add in any diced vegetables that you have in your fridge and top with whatever makes your heart sing.
Creamy Vegetarian White Chili, Vegetarian Ventures
Vegetarian chili is always a good vegetarian main dish, and this one makes it easy and healthy. Not that we are calorie-counting, but each serving is only 235 calories. It can also easily be adapted to be vegan: just swap out the whole milk for non-flavored dairy-free milk.
Slow Cooker Pulled Pork Chili, Slow Cooker Gourmet
Slow cookers are masters with both pulled pork and chili, so this recipe truly plays on its strengths. I love that this recipe is a classic chili with a little twist, adding flavor but not taking away from its original taste. It also calls for beer instead of chicken broth, which is something that my mom always added to our family’s chili growing up.
Aurora James’s Vegan Chili, The New York Times
Aurora James’s vegan version of chili is a true testament to her lesson that you don’t need to cut foods out of your diet as much as you need to add other ones into it. This recipe is a lighter and healthier version of a chili that her mom used to make and is full of protein-packed beans and veggies. She too recommends keeping the leftovers, noting that it tastes even better on the second day.
I don’t believe that anyone could “Beat Bobby Flay” going up against this chili recipe. The spices and the chili itself are unreal, but the real heroes here are the Toasted Cumin Crema and Avocado Relish toppings. Insane. Try it now.
This chili is famous in Vermont and it’ll be famous in your house too. I like to sub in pinto beans for the kidney beans, because like I said I’m not a fan, but other than that, this recipe is *chef’s kiss* delicious.
To bean or not to bean… an endless debate on whether or not beans belong in chili. If you are on Team No Bean, this quick chili recipe is the one for you. It also has lots of garlic for you garlic lovers out there.
One-pot recipes are so attractive on busy weeknights and this recipe is a perfect cozy dinner with minimal clean-up. The addition of lentils makes this chili extra thick and full of fiber, protein, magnesium, etc. Bonus points: it’s ready in under an hour.
I have always been more of a chicken/turkey girl over beef, and this turkey chili is definitely among the best. I am all about that 99% extra lean ground turkey and love that this recipe specifically calls it out. While I skip out on a few of the ingredients, the overall flavor is so good I never even miss them.
For those of you challenging yourself to Whole30 or the Paleo diet with chili cravings, look no further than The Defined Dish’s Whole30 and Paleo approved chili. The chef herself says it best: “lots of veggies, lots of meat, lots of spice.” So good and so healthy, you won’t even realize how clean you are eating.
Another delicious, but a lighter option for chili. This recipe also has a special trick that I have found really enhances the texture of my chili: it directs you to mash one can of beans before adding to the saucepan and keeping the other two whole!
